Due to the distributed nature of solar projects, there is no comprehensive database of all projects. The Alaska Energy Authority has funded two utility scale solar projects and one solar thermal project through the Renewable Energy Fund (REF). The Department of Energy (DOE) and private capital has funded a number of additional projects. Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) constructed the largest solar installation in Alaska, a 563 kW solar PV system in Fairbanks, which came online in October 2018. More information can be found on the project website http://www.gvea.com/energy/solar-farm.

The two REF funded solar PV projects are in the communities of Kaltag and Eagle. The solar thermal project is in McKinley Village.

Pictured below is a 9.6 kw photovoltaic panel system on a connex in Kaltag.
